About Mama Bear's Day Nursery - Day Care

Other Information Fort View is our smallest nursery the set in one of our largest gardens. Children benefit from a cosy home from home environment yet have the opportunity to explore and benefit from an extensive outdoor environment. Set in an oasis of peaceful countryside within the city, the nursery is well placed to serve families living or working nearby. Find us to the right of the historic Napoleonic fort at the top of Crownhill Fort Road. The nursery and pre-school was awarded an Outstanding grade by Ofsted in October 2017. The inspector was particularly impressed with the setting's highly reflective management style which involves staff, parents and the children themselves helping to evaluate and make improvements. Of note, is the nursery's Children's Council scheme which allows children to air views about favourite activities and what they enjoy learning.

Funding available 2, 3, 4, Offers Extended Entitlement (30 hours)
(Taken from our FEE Policy) How we deliver the Early Years Entitlement It is Mama Bear’s policy to support parents / carers by offering the Early Years Entitlement flexibly, either as stand-alone sessions (Early Years Entitlement-only) or as part of a broader booking pattern (fee-paying nursery place). Please note though that in order to do this sustainably we have to limit how we offer, as well as how many, term time only places each setting provides. Accordingly, some places may be limited with availability being given first to children already in our care, their siblings and then to new clients on a first-come-first-served basis. The dates of the funded weeks vary from year to year. As part of a fee-paying nursery place: 1. All year round: Under the Universal Entitlement the first 12 hours per week are funded for 47.5 weeks of the year. The funded hours per week are doubled to 24 for those qualifying for the Extended Entitlement. Parents / carers may choose from any of our available sessions, with a maximum of 10 funded hours in any one day. 2. Term time only: Up to 15 hours per week (Universal Entitlement) or 30 hours per week (Extended Entitlement) for 38 weeks of the year. In order to help us balance demand these places are limited in availability and are restricted to 5 and 10 hour sessions only (8.00am-1.00pm, 1.00pm-6.00pm, 8.00am-6.00pm). Early Years Entitlement hours cannot be used for any other sessions on a term time only basis. Early Years Entitlement-only: 3. All year round: Up to 12 hours per week (Universal Entitlement) or 24 hours per week (Extended Entitlement), 47.5 weeks of the year. Parents / carers may choose from any of our available sessions, with a maximum of 10 funded hours in any one day. 4. What we charge for The Early Years Entitlement funding is intended to deliver free, high quality, flexible childcare. It is not intended to pay for the costs of meals, drinks, snacks, other consumables, extra hours or additional activities. To cover this a consumables charge of £1.95 per hour is made for funded sessions. This is reduced to £1.76 if the child qualifies for a sibling discount (ie - 10%) and increased to £2.15 for term-time only places (ie + 10%). This charge is waived for parents / carers in receipt of the Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP). As an alternative to the hourly charge, we would therefore encourage parents / carers who are in receipt of benefits or whose children have been in care or adopted from care to apply for the EYPP. In line with our Terms and Conditions of Sale we also charge £5 per month for a paper invoice and £5 per month for payments not made by Direct Debit. These charges can be avoided by registering to receive your invoices electronically and to pay by Direct Debit. Additional sessions / terminating an Early Years Entitlement place without sufficient notice Any sessions that fall outside of the funded hours are charged in line with our standard tariffs. Under scheme rules, parents / carers registering for Early Years Education Entitlement-only sessions are not required to pay a registration fee, however a registration fee will be required to access all other sessions. In the event that an Early Years Entitlement place is terminated without sufficient notice, and in accordance with our Terms and Conditions of Sale, Mama Bear’s are entitled to claim up to four weeks’ funding in lieu of notice.
